Adventure at the Airport

Alright, So I started my leave on a Friday for Mid-tour from Korea to Germany. I had my plans all mapped out. I was all packed and ready to go. I woke up early ( I could hardly sleep anyway-too anxious). I walked about 1/2 a mile to the front gate so I didn't have to pay for a base taxi. I waited anxiously for an off base taxi (kemshi-cab). The on base taxis would have charged me way too much. I was told that there are always kemshi-cabs off base. Well there were no cabs. Finally, a Korean offered to take me to the bus station. We haggled over the price and settled for $10. I was really in no position to haggle. I was desperate for a ride. I arrived at the bus station and the Korean that gave me the ride and an attendant at the bus station helped me purchase a bus ticket. The bus leaves at 7. I have about 30-45 minutes to wait. Anyway, I make it to Inchon international airport and I go to the information desk to find out where I need to check in and I show my electronic boarding pass to the lady and she looks it up on her computer and proceeds to tell me that my flight has been canceled. At that point I think I was almost about to mess in my pants. I am sure I made the most awful face she had ever seen cause she couldn't help but laugh a little and she said she was sorry to have such bad news for me. I must have looked like I was about to cry, she stated that I need to go to the airline office. Toting my bags, I hike what seems like a good 2 miles, by the time I find their office. I sit down and show the representative my ticket and she explains to me that my flight is actually tomorrow. Now, I don't know where I went wrong. I must have thought I was going over the international date line (actually I am), but the date is clearly on the ticket telling me when my flight is. Maybe I was confused because for some reason I started my leave on Friday and my flight was on a Saturday. I don't know but I found the bus ticket office (I wouldn't really call it an office more like an embass) and I bought a ticket back to my base. Now some of my friends said I should have found a hotel and stayed there, or went to Osan and got a room there. One of my cheap friends stated that he would have just stayed at the airport for over 24 hours. At that point I wanted to get back to my room, my internet and say goodbye (again) to a few friends that will not be there when I get back. You should have seen the look on my cheap friends face when he opened his door and I was standing there-priceless. Anyway, I figured a room would be more expensive than a 16,100 won bus fare. That's about 9 US dollars. I could have possibly saved some time as well. The bus ride is about 3 hours away from Kunsan and Osan is 1 hour away. At any rate, I got the chance to practice the trip to the Airport the day before. I will chalk it up as a dry run.

So today is the second day of ground hog day and I sitting here at my gate, a few hours early. I hope this goes smooth, smoother than yesterday. Atleast It has so far...Well you'll be happy to know that the rest of my journey went smooth. I made it to my final destination. Until next time, God Bless and happy traveling.
