Being a Christian

Last night an obnoxious drunk guy smarted off to everyone in the room and instead of turning the other cheek and not saying anything, like I should have. I smarted off to him, with a smart ass laugh. We exchanged pleasantries for a minute or so and the intoxicated person decided it was time to leave and find more alcohol.

Sometimes it is difficult being a christian. It's almost like we have to be perfect. We are not perfect, but we have to strive for perfection. Yes there are things each of us can work on or be better at. It's a never ending cycle.

Being a christian husband is especially hard. I know I struggle with that now. I have to work on being a nice person even if my spouse is not being very nice to me.

What I am trying to say is the next time someone makes you angry and you think you want to exchange words with them, bite your tongue, or take a deep breath. As "Happy Gilmore" did, go to a happy place, and be a better person, be an example for others to follow. So be nice to someone today. Just like in the movie "Pay it forward". You never know maybe we will start a domino effect. So be kind today, it is Christmas Day.
